Happy Fall Ya'll

We are so ready for the weather and fun things that fall brings. Football games (WAR EAGLE!) hot chocolate, Halloween parties, Boo at the Zoo, sweaters, long walks, pretty leaves, and this....

only I am not sure if our little Jack-o-lantern is going to fit in a pumpkin this year. We better start shopping for a big one!

(And, yes I know fall really started a week ago, but I just could not blog about fall when it was still 90 degrees out! 70 degrees seems appropriate for fall blogging!) ha!

Grease is the word

We had a very fun weekend, or it was for me at least! John got to babysit Saturday while I finished celebrating with these 2 girls the end of Birthday week!

We had a blast at Grease and then out for our favorite dinner of Sushi!

I think John was worn out (so worn out that he sent Jack with Shan to meet us for sushi and he stayed home!) Jack was very whiny, but it did make John quickly point out that he had no idea how I got anything done all day long!! I think I will let him babysit some more so he will continue to remember that! HA!

So to be fair I took Jack yesterday and we met up with Aunt Em for some shopping time! Jack was great and Em and I found some cute stuff. I was on the search for some cute orange and blue for this weekend's trip! (Any guesses??)

We have lots to do today! Happy Monday!

More Birthday Celebrating!!

We have had birthday fun all week at our house since Jack and I have birthdays only a few days apart. DH was awesome this birthday and even sent me flowers on baby boy's birthday just to tell me that I am an awesome mom. How sweet is that? AND he bought me this...

Now I will be able to put adorable monograms and appliques on EVERYTHING!!! Add some totally cute shoes from DH, purse from my mom and a now much needed GC to the fabric store from my in-laws and I think I am set!!

But I know you really don't care about all that because what you really want to see is the rest of the birthday party pics. Jenny took over 500, so here are some of my favorites. I am especially fond of the ones we had done of Jack with all of his great-grandparents that are living. They are all in their 80's and that is something to cherish!

Interruption

We interrupt the regularly scheduled post of birthday pictures to bring you this news....

GUESS WHO WALKED TONIGHT AT OUR HOUSE????

Yep, that is right. Jack took his first steps across the room tonight with no help! I guess we need to get our tennis shoes on!!

Jack's Birthday Extravaganza Supreme

Like the title?... that is what DH named the 1st birthday party.

I got the pictures back from Jenny today and well there are at least 500, crazy huh. So it will take me the next few days to show off all the fun we had because there are so many cute pictures. I guess we better get started! ha! I did a polka dot theme in green and blue with Jack's monogram on everything including the invitation. It could not have turned out any better.

We greeted our guests with this sign hanging on the front door.

Just inside I decided to put Jack's baby book out with a page for all of our guests to sign it. I bought this Gail Pittman vase at a garage sale for $2 and it matched the decor perfectly! I decided flowers were a little too girly, so I was ecstatic when Emily came up with this cute idea for the vase. And thanks to my mom for the sewing projects like this table cloth and the table runner!

Is this not so cute??

I decided that I could make a banner like the ones selling on Etsy for $30+, so with some help from Sara Ann, who had tackled the project in May we did it! It the middle is his invitation and the polka-dot towels were monogrammed for the kids.

The favors for the grown-ups. They are yummy special rice krispies that are my grandmothers secret recipe!

Stickers for the favors.

The food, cake and baby bites from a local bakery THEY ARE AWESOME. You have not lived until you have tried baby bites!

The outfits...We just could not mess up his party outfit eating cake, so I ordered this adorable onesie from Golden Shop and I could not have been more pleased with how it turned out. She also did the bib too!

And finally the presents with Jack so patiently waiting for all those toys!

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY!!

WOW, is it really here? I am typing this and still can not believe it. This past year has gone by faster than I imagined and has been the BEST year of our lives. You have brought more joy into our home than I ever dreamed possible.

Happy 1st Birthday Sweet Boy!

(My MOST favorite picture from the day you were born)

(Mommy's favorites from this month. I could not choose just one)

At 12 months you are:
  • Weigh about 23lbs
  • You are wearing 12 month clothes
  • You wear a 5 1/2 extra wide shoe and got your first pair this month
  • You have gotten lots of new toys and especially love the one that blows balls everywhere
  • You have learned to give high five and that made your daddy so happy
  • You crawled up the steps alone and scared us to death!!
  • Walking everywhere as long as you have something to hold on too.
  • You love your wagon and cry and cry if we take you out
  • You had your first bite of chocolate from Pop and we thought you were going to tackle him for another bite
  • You decided to bite everything this month. We are working on that!
  • You got your 5th tooth this month
  • You moved from your baby car seat, but are still rear facing

Happy First Birthday Baby Boy!
Love you more than you will ever know!

Jack's Baptism

I decided I would share the pictures of Jack's Baptism 1st and leave you in suspense about the party a little longer (oh, that and I have not gotten all the pictures back from the photographer yet, no pressure Jenny!!)

We decided VERY last minute to do Jack's Baptism the same weekend as his birthday so that we could try to make it as easy as possible on everyone since most all of our close friends and family had to travel. That made us able to share the special day with everyone.

Jack did great and only pouted a little when they sprinkled water on his head, we had a minor disaster right before we left to go to church when Jack cut is finger and got blood all over his Baptism outfit, but things have a way of working out and I had a back-up plan since his outfit was white. He was able to wear one of our best family friends babies outfits, which made it that much more special and left us with a cute little story to tell! And surprisingly I did not have a meltdown which totally surprised everyone! I am known for liking things just a little too perfect sometimes!!

Here are some of my favorites! (BTW, the photography is by Jenny at jennymo.com)

Did You Notice.....

That we have been gone?? Jack's BIG 1st birthday bash was yesterday and his Baptism was today. I have lots and lots of pictures and stories to share this week, but the last of our weekend company left tonight and I am so tired I must sleep. See you tomorrow. (I promise it will be good, AND worth the wait)

Consignment SALE scores!

I had so much fun last night shopping the consignment sale early. I can not imagine what kind of chaos it is today and I am really looking forward to working tomorrow!

There was so much stuff that they even had to pile some on the floor. I was able to get all these clothes for about $85. Great price since most of them look new AND one of the outfits alone costs more than my total! ha! (If you have ever priced or bought Beaux et Belles then you know what I am talking about!)

And yes I know that is a Tennessee jacket, don't judge I am not the UT fan in the house.

This great toy by Parents was a steal and looked BRAND NEW. I walked away with it for $10, got home and searched for them online $100 new. Nothing like 90% off!!

Even if I did have to pay $100 the look on that sweet boy's face after I Cloroxed (totally OCD) it and put it in the floor for him was priceless. I mean could you resist that face??

Add in the $170 jogging stroller I got for $40 and I would say I racked up and I now know why all southern girls love the consignment sales AND will stand it line for hours just to get in one!

Thursday Tidbits

We have so much going on right now as you can imagine since "THE PARTY" is only 10 days away!! So forgive me if I am not the best blogger right now, but if I promise you lots and lots of the 1st birthday coverage then you'll forgive me, right??

-I got Jack's Halloween costume in the mail today! It is sooo stinking cute. I went with the crab! (And no Jessie, I am not monogramming it, so it is all yours next year!)

-I have some envelopes (actually lots) to address today for another very special event. (more on that later)

-All the consignment sales in our area start this weekend and I can not wait! I get to shop early tonight at Giggles n Grace since I am working it on Saturday. Love, love, love all the deals on those smocked clothes!

-Jack is cutting 2 more teeth. I guess the good news is that we are getting them all at once. But the bad news is he has become such a little biter. We are working on this and he is quickly learning what happens when we bite!

-I have fallen in love with diapers.com Their diapers are cheaper and get this, the are delivered at your door in 2 days, no tax, no shipping, and even better....NO TRIPS TO WAL-MART for last minute diapers!! The car seat came from diapers.com also. I saved over $100 on it!

-Speaking of car seats... I had researched and researched and we finally decided on a Britax Marathon in this fun print! And thanks to all of our sweet friends and family this is the 1st thing we have had to buy! How awesome is that?
-My heart is really hurting for a friend today. Please pray for her and her family in the next few days and weeks.

-We have to go buy more ribbon, card stock, and tablecloths today! (I feel like I am planning a wedding!)

Drum Roll Please

After SEVERAL weeks, lots of work and frustration I am finally ready to show you my 1st sewing project! I have to say it is very cute and after all it should be. It took lots of time. I could not let baby boy wear something ugly, right?

Not sure I will be sewing every day, but I have bought the fabric to start my next project, so we will see.
And the other side. I figured if I was going to the trouble it should be wearable on both sides!

Should I even explain...

I have typed, erased, and re-typed trying to find the right words to properly explain these pictures, so that you just might understand how funny they really are, but I just can not find the words, so I will just say this...

We were at dinner at Uncle Matt's, who sells real estate. He got this AWFUL (which really doesn't describe it) vase-statue-plastic-thingy out of a mega expensive foreclosure in a VERY affluent neighborhood, which makes it so much more amusing that someone would actually have something this awful in a 4 million dollar home, but they did!

Reed liked being on top of the world

Jack on the other hand takes after his mom and knows when something is so ugly that it even makes the cutest baby in the world sad!!

I know so silly, but I had to share because it makes me laugh every time I see it. Maybe you will get a good laugh too! After all it is the best medicine!!

Sweet Surprises and Bathroom Breaks

John got home from work early today which NEVER EVER EVER happens, so that was such a sweet surprise and a good start to our long holiday weekend.

John had been home a while and I knew that he had wondered his way into the bedroom (which usually means the bathroom) but suddenly Jack was gone to. I went looking and this is what I found. I guess he thought his daddy needed some help selecting his bathroom reading material! HA!

Happy Labor Day weekend!

It all begins tonight!

In case you can not tell we like football season. And since we are a house divided that makes for a fun season. (Lucky for us we will be at the rivalry game in October) Cool weather, shouting fans, the SEC, cute team outfits, tailgating, friends. I mean is there anything else better??

Happy Fall!!

Happy Hour

Sonic Happy Hour that is! Jack loved my diet cherry limeade and the straw too!
