Weekend recap

This weekend my Gran got to meet Henry for the 1st time and we enjoyed spending some time with Gigi, Geepers, and Gran! Jack played outside and Henry got lots of loving! Every time I see a picture of him I crack up at how chubby his cheeks look and how he does not look anything like his pictures in real life. I don't know what it is, but that camera makes his cheeks look so chubby. Not that they aren't a little bit on the chubby side along with his arms and legs! Why oh why can't those rolls look cute on me?

We also celebrated Em's birthday one last time with yummy strawberry cake from a local bakery and enjoyed a dinner out, that we did manage with two kids, of course Henry slept the entire time and Jack hung in there, but I did remember why our idea of a fancy dinner out is now Chick-fil-a! HA! After all how could this sweet face ever act up?

A Favorite

So it worked out perfectly that one of my FAVORITE stores in my mom's town is having a fun giveaway this weekend since Gigi came to town this weekend and brought some cuteness from there. So anyway if you are ever in Dothan Alabama visit Bellimia and I promise you will come out with an empty wallet! You can visit their blog here and see all the cuteness for yourself!

Birthday partying

I know it is almost the weekend again and I am just getting around to last weekend! We did lots of birthday partying this past weekend, but I only have pictures from one party.

Aunt Em said we could not take any pictures when we celebrated her birthday because we all looked a hot mess...meaning working on Tootlebugs stuff for 5 hours while trying to entertain a 2 year old and feed a 2 month old every two hours and cook dinner all at the same time! So to recap quickly we had her favorite... butterfinger cake and gave her a way cute ring (that I almost kept for myself) and a picture frame (that she picked out!)

Saturday night my friend for over 20 years (gosh that makes me sound so old!) and her family were in town and we had dinner and a "surprise" party for her 30th birthday. And speaking of 30 just so we are all clear...I AM NOT 30, and I actually have not decided if I am even going to turn 30 this year, or just be a happy little 29 again!

There were way to many little boys running around everywhere and Jack was in heaven. It was pure chaos..J hated it and I loved it, and if I were a millionaire and could pay for 6 or 7 cars, weddings, and colleges I would have that many little boys, but since we are not said millionaires I am thinking 3 looks like the magic number.

And at 30 Steph and I have 4 (and sometimes 6) boys between us. In a million years who would have ever thought two of the most prissy girls on earth would end up with boys, and you know what I would not trade it for anything in this world. We have fun talking daily about life with boys and no matter how many miles apart we are its always like we are right next door. Its so bad that just today Steph and I were talking on the phone and she was running into Publix and said you need anything? We both laughed thinking of how on earth she would ship milk!

We ate yummy cake, and watched a fashion show of Steph and her new granny wear! Lots of fun and two very tired little boys, but we would not have missed it!

Some Henry Love

I know most of you have seen this, but in case you have not I just had to share. You know most of the time the 2nd child gets the shaft, well I think in this case Henry's announcement WAY out did Jack's thanks to Kristin! I can not say enough about how much I LOVED what she did!!

Of course it did not hurt that K took amazing pictures too! Thanks girls for making our sweet Henry look so precious!

IT's Birthday Day!

In our family we celebrate birthday month, which basically gives you 4 weeks instead of one day to eat what you want, do what you want, and basically make everyone else be extra nice!

So, we have been celebrating Aunt Em's birthday all month, but today is the real day! I made her favorite... Butterfinger cake and we celebrated last night and even though she is working today, we hope its a great day!

Happy Birthday Aunt Emmy!

We love you bunches and bunches!

Madagascar LIVE!

A few weeks ago while we were all watching TV one night a commercial came up for the Broadway show...Madagascar LIVE! Since that is Jack's all time FAVORITE movie, so much so that he acts the scenes out all the time we decided to have a date night and take him.

Thankfully Aunt Em was willing to babysit Henry and we got to spend some time with Jack. We paid way to much for popcorn and drinks, but have a great time! Jack LOVED it and made it through the entire show. And somehow by accident his friend Reed ended up sitting right beside us! Now we know we can definitely try it again sometime and maybe even attempt a movie outing soon too! They don't allow cameras, and are VERY strict about it, so the phone had to do!

Today was so nice here, but Jack was coughing like crazy and starting to get a runny nose, so I decided against the park like I had originally planned and we hung out at home. I actually got some work done and both boys were really good!

I scored a guest pass to shop the consignment sale at our church early thanks to my friend Beth, and got to go tonight. It was worth it especially for the little sizes. For some reason they are always cheaper and for obvious reasons they look better too. Henry racked up, but Jack only got one thing! I even stuck to my budget, so J was happy!! and I am resisting the urge to go back tomorrow with friends so that I don't get suckered in buying more! I am a sucker for anything smocked!!

Pizza and worms

I have had really good intentions to start taking at least one picture of the boys every day, but well I have managed to take a picture of Henry yesterday and today, but not Jack. Mainly because Jack is NEVER still and I really just have not felt like fighting him over pictures! I also have not really had much to say today either. Not that its not exciting around here to me, but lets be honest...to you, probably not so much!!

Jack had school yesterday and got lots of valentine treats! Henry hung out with me at home and J cooked us a Valentine's dinner that Jack cried during (the entire time) Henry decided that I did not need to eat and he needed to be fed instead, so basically it was mass chaos like any other night and J and I both agreed we would not have it any other way!

Today Jack had a date with Pop for pizza and a trip to the outdoor store. Apparently Jack insisted on having one of Pop's fishing lures and carried it everywhere they went. It even got to have pizza for lunch. I think he would have taken the slimy thing to bed with him if he had not been in the worst mood ever at bedtime. Henry and I went to Target for Dr. Pepper since we were out of it, and I knew tomorrow would be very bad if I did not have my Dr. Pepper fix. $50 later we were done, but Henry got lots of cute new pjs!

J got home early and I actually (don't faint) cooked dinner, like as in a real dinner of meat loaf, mashed potatoes, and corn. I have been working on Tootlebugs and grocery coupons for the week. I started to work on taxes, but decided I would rather type this post and wish for a fairy godmother to appear to do the tax prep for me!

Random List

  • We had snow on Thursday and today it was in the 60's...I guess that is why we all have a cough and runny noses, again!
  • Aunt Emily found me new rugs for my living and dining room, and while I really was not quite ready to spend the $$ on a living room re-do just yet, the price was so good I could not pass them up...so let the re-do begin
  • Aunt Em and Uncle Pookie came by today to bring the other rug, Jack cried and threw a fit when they left, it broke Aunt Em's heart...so after she heard him still crying when she called to check on him they came back to play... Guess who he's got wrapped around his little finger?
  • Every store in this county is out of clear cello bags, so I had to make do with quart size Ziploc bags for Jack's friend's valentine's treats by cutting the zip top off. Shh don't tell! I am hoping and praying no one notices!
  • Yesterday we went on a family date to the mall and to lunch. Jack was exceptional. He rode the train at the mall...twice, but not because he wanted to but because I wanted to see the excitement that J got to see riding it with him the 1st time. Is that bad? We also scored 4 boxes of K cups and 2 shirts to add to Jack's quickly overgrown summer wardrobe all for $9.83. I really am trying to make my job that doesn't come with pay more successful by using coupons. (I still can not seem to master the grocery coupon thing, though. I try!)
  • The only way I can get Jack to drink milk is to lie and tell him its hot chocolate. It works at least!
  • I have a baby who was up every hour last night, and I have a terrible cold, so really all I want for valentine's day is a night of sleep!
  • Since Henry will not take a bottle at all I have learned quickly to adjust. I even nursed him in a restaurant, the mall parking lot, and carpool line. With Jack I would have DIED before I would have done that! Oh, how things change, but don't worry I am totally covered blankets and all!
  • I bought my own Valentine's Day present because I had a coupon and I am totally okay with that. I really hate red roses and prefer flowers out of the blue instead, so it works! I also really don't care about Valentine's Day since J is good about doing nice things most of the time anyway. I don't really need him to do something just because Hallmark requires it! I did get Jack a Valentine's present, but not Henry. I know bad mom, but Henry doesn't know and they will both watch the movie I got anyway.
  • Em got me addicted to white hot chocolate from Dunkin Donuts. Good thing we don't have one close by, so that means I will have to just stick with my Dr. Pepper addiction that pregnancy caused and I have yet to break the habit.
  • We are taking Jack to see Madagascar Live this week. I think I am more excited than he is.
  • Jack has learned to say please when it wants something, especially something like candy or Dr. Pepper. Its so cute, it often works for him.
  • Somehow Jack figured out that Aunt Em's ipod is pink and now refers to it as the pink Tommy (that's baby talk for pink thing that plays Thomas the train videos)
  • Our new rugs are sort of shaggy. Jack thinks you should lay on them and make snow angels!
  • We are having this for dinner tonight...be jealous, very jealous!
  • J has become quite the cook around our house which secretly makes me love that man more and more because I HATE TO COOK!

Lately

Jack has this new thing were he wants to hold Henry and he wants to feed him, and since Henry wants nothing to do with a bottle the 2nd option for obvious reasons is out, so I try to appease him about once a day and let him hold the baby. He'll say I baby hold and then after about 5 seconds he realizes this is not much fun and this baby is over half of my size, so he'll say okay baby bye-bye and you better be right there to take Henry, if not I think he would drop him!

Jack also thinks or rather thought it was so funny to sit in Henry's bouncy seat. Well after numerous time outs and spankings he sat in it again Tuesday and guess what??? It broke! Our nice bouncy seat that we got as a gift when Jack was born...broken!! Not what I wanted to have to replace right now, but I had no choice so I printed coupons to Buy buy baby and Henry and I took a field trip yesterday. While there and since I had an extra coupon I decided to get Jack the cup tray for our new stroller since he LOVES to put his snacks in a cup holder and it would also give us a place to put the DVD player. So last night I went into the garage to put it on the stroller. Jack who was already in a HORRIBLE mood he had to sit in it and wanted pretzels. So, yes I let my child sit in the stroller, in the garage, and eat his pretzels. Mother of the year, right?

He was in bed by 6:45 and thankfully since he was in such a mood! I sorted my coupons and off I went in the snow to the grocery store. It was quiet and there was plenty of bread! And this morning we woke up to this...

It's 8:15 and everyone is still asleep around here, so we are going to enjoy a nice day at home and having J here until 10am!

Happy Snow Day!

WHAT?!?!

So today I took Henry for his 2 month doctor's appointment which meant two shots and some yucky medicine that they expect a 2 month old to drink, yea right! And I honestly thought he weighted about 13lbs as I mentioned in my last post, so last night during Super Bowl partying we all placed our bets on what he weighed. Since I am the one who holds him 18 out of 24 hours each day I thought of course I should know, so I guessed around 15lbs thinking that was a little high, but that he sure seems heavy, so maybe it was not too off. Well, our little chunky monkey is (insert drum roll) 16lbs 4oz. WHAT? He weighs 6lbs more than Jack did at the same age!! He is in the 97% percentile for weight and 90% for height. He is also the biggest baby our doctor has had at this age! The bad part is in 5lbs we are moving to a new car seat, and I was sure hoping for more time in the pumpkin seat, just for convenience. Oh well!! We love those rolls and wouldn't change his perfect little self for anything!

Jack had school today and apparently he learned how to do karate chops from TV and tested it out on Aunt Emmy! That boy is something else and its amazing to see what he comes up with each day. We have been practicing saying the says of the week, and he is so funny because he will say no instead of the days when I start to get on his nerves or if he thinks I am making him practice too much.

The forecast today is also calling for more "winter mix"' this week, and I think this time I might cry if that happens. I have been nice and patient but I am ready for spring, or I am moving further south...and to think I thought AL was far south enough!

Happy Monday!

Dear Henry:Month Two

Dear Henry,

It is already that time again and I am can not believe I am writing about your second month! We have quickly adjusted to having you around and even your big brother has warmed up to you. He checks on you every morning when he wakes up and takes several breaks from playing throughout the day to give you a quick kiss. He cracks me up when you start to whine. He will say its okay baby! Oh, and he thinks your name is baby. Henry is a train and you are clearly not a train!

You have learned to smile at us and it melts my heart to pieces every single time you do it! You are the most content little thing, other than being a little high maintenance when it comes to being held and most of the time someone around here is happy to give in.

You are twice the size of Jack at this age. You weigh about 13lbs (we go for your 2 month check up on Monday) and Jack was 13lbs 6oz at 4 months! You are in size 2 diapers and 3-6 months sleepers and 3 month outfits. I sure hope you get to wear all these cute spring clothes I have for you...so you better slow down!

You are very adamant about not having anything to do with a bottle. You will choke down about 3 to 4 ounces for your daddy if you don't have a choice, but you make it perfectly clear where you stand and I am learning to adjust to being a nursing mom. You will not take a bottle for me at all!

You love the swing and will swing and sleep contently for hours at a time. The car always puts you to sleep provided Jack doesn't decide to scream. The boucey seat is your bed at night unless you end up in the bed with us and you LOVE that because you are a snuggler! And if I am really lucky we get 5 hours of sleep at one time, but most nights its 4 hours and I gladly take it!

I love you more than I ever thought I would and my heart just expanded when you came into my life. I am so thankful that I get to spend my days loving on you and think I easily have the best job in the world! You are my sunshine!!

Love, Mommy
