I got these delivered today with the sweetest card from my sister!

I think she knew just what I needed too! I can't lie, as much as I love being home with the boys, this week has been my first full week alone with them all day everyday and its a lot! Everyone tells you a newborn plus a toddler is very hard work, but you just don't realize it until you live it! Henry is a great baby which helps tons. And Jack is really good for the most part, but has been fighting me on naps and acting out every time I sit down to feed Henry. We are working on those things and I know he is ready to go back to school from Christmas break and I am sure he is tired of seeing his mom all day every day, because I know I am not as much fun as his school friends!

I'm Dreaming of A White Christmas

In the 29 years I have been alive we have NEVER, EVER, EVER had snow on Christmas and yet Jack and Henry managed it within their first 2 years! We enjoyed waking up and seeing this view out our front windows!

We managed to keep Jack asleep until a little after 6am on Christmas morning, thankfully since he had been waking up at 4am all week! (thank you sickness) Pop left everyone at his house in bed and made it over by 5:45am in time to see Jack's sweet face and make it back home before anyone missed him ;)

Jack was in awe of everything, but was more excited about his tool bench than anything else. We all had to take turns sitting with him and doing exactly as he said!

We waited on Aunt Em, Uncle Kyle, and Gigi before we feasted on a breakfast of sausage rolls and hash brown casserole and too many Christmas sweets to mention and then spent most of our day watching Jack play and Henry sleep!

It was definitely a Christmas we will remember for lots of reasons, but most of all because of this precious gift we were given! We are truly blessed!

The Night Before

I am way behind updating from Christmas, but we are still here. Henry's still waking up lots during the night and yesterday after I started running a fever we figured out that I have mastitis. YUCKY! I started taking an antibiotic last night, so hoping that will clear it up quickly. I do not have time to be sick and laughed out loud when I read that lots of rest would help! Okay moving on to the fun stuff!

We managed to make it to Christmas Eve Service,

and we were even on time, but we did not make it for the entire thing. Jack was still not feeling well and there were so many people there that it was at least a million degrees in there and Henry started getting hot in his car seat and then it was all over! So we came home and finished getting ready for out Christmas dinner with my mom's family.

J cooked an awesome dinner and Aunt Em made some yummy appetizers that we pigged out on! After dinner we let Jack open his gifts from Em and Kyle and Gigi and Geepers.

We don't exchange gifts with my side of the family, but they wanted to do something for the boys since that is really what it is about to us anyway. We enjoyed watching him open and play with his gifts and we also let him open his ornament from us.

He loved it, and I am not really sure that love is even a strong enough word to describe it, and then when we went to hang it on the tree...it fell and broke!

Long story short if anyone can find the Disney Cars Hallmark ornament from this year PLEASE let me know! I will pay good money for it! HA!

We got our cookies and milk ready for Santa, (oh and that broke too)

said goodnight to everyone, and then J and I got to help Santa out and that was the most fun part of the night.

Totally Random

Yesterday and today have been very eventful around here, so I will start with yesterday 1st!

I got both boys dressed and that included Henry getting his 1st real bath

since his button had fallen off and in cute Christmas clothes

and even managed to make cute little reindeer cookies

(which Jack politely told me were nasty!) AND I even got them both down for a nap around the same time and then Jack woke up with a fever (again) of 103.3. So I called the peds office and got him in this morning. I was just sure it was the flu and praying very hard with a newborn that it was not the flu. Thankfully in was not, but the doctor thought it was RSV which is about 10 times worse than the flu. When she said we are going to give him a breathing treatment, an RSV test, and then we will get a plan together since you have a 3 week old! I really started crying and praying! Thankfully the RSV test was neg, but we had to take a 20 min. breathing treatment at the doctors and then we were sent home with cough medicine, breathing treatments, and instructions to keep him totally away from Henry (ummm, okay because that is so easy with one mom at home!) J will be home tomorrow so that will help and hopefully Jack will start feeling better before Christmas. I really wanted to at least get out to get Santa pictures.

Then, J's dad has gotten sick with the shingles so that meant we won't get to see them or J's sister and her family either. We are bummed because we were looking forward to our time with them and now I am just tired of sickness, I am totally thinking my next baby is going to be born in June NOT December! I am praying everyone is well soon, so we can visit them before Henry changes too much!

Needless to say today, no cute Christmas clothes only sweatpants around here and hopefully lots of rest!

Now for the fun of yesterday...

On the 8th day of Christmas my true love gave to me....

nothing cures a bad day like a resse's and new hairspray! (if you know me well at all then you know this just about sums it up. I could never, ever, ever, ever live without hairspray)

Chunky Monkey: 2 week update

* I have had several comments and YES, I am very aware that I put a picture of myself in rollers on the blog. That is what I looked like on Sunday, so no need to not let you see it all!

Yesterday was Henry's 2 week doctors appointment. I left Jack with J since he is sick and in a effort to not bring more germs home. That was the best plan and made it much easier. Henry slept through most of it and the entire car ride home including the chick-fil-a drive thru!

At two weeks:
  • You are a chunk at 10lbs 4 oz (yes, you have gained almost 3lbs in two weeks and weigh 4lbs more than your brother did at the same age, yet you look so little to me.)
  • You are 21 1/2 inches long
  • 75th to 90th percentile in both height and weight
  • You umbilical cord stump thankfully fell off while we were at the doctors office and that was much to your daddy's delight!
  • You are still wearing very few newborn clothes and quickly moving into 0-3 months, this makes me sad because you have some cute-cute clothes that you will not get to wear much, so I guess we will just save them for the next boy! HA!
  • You eat every 2-3, but mostly 2 hours and it seems that you still have your days and nights mixed up...I am trying really hard to not feel tired because I know I will miss holding that tiny baby soon enough
  • You had your 1st outing this week to get your daddy's Christmas gift. You did great, but I had forgotten how heavy that car seat is!

Henry, you have only been in our life for 2 almost 3 short weeks, but it feels like a lifetime. You are such a joy and we are thankful that our family is now more complete because you are in it. There is nothing like a little Christmas time baby to make everyone smile a little more! God has truly blessed us again with another beautiful baby boy!

12 days update:

On the 7th Day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

new socks and cozy pjs!

This weekend brought the 5th (one of Oprah's favorite things)

and 6th day (a gift to help count the days..full of coupons from Chick-fil-as)

of Christmas gifts and a sick Jack! Needless to say we spent our days at home watching Christmas movies,

J making yummy chicken and noodles, washing too many loads of laundry to count, and making good use of at least 2 cans of lysol spray and wipes!

I think Henry is sanitized enough that he should not get anything for the next 2 years! I don't think it would ever matter if we had 25 kids, I would still be a nervous wreck anytime there could be a possibility of my newborn getting sick. I did some hard praying and still am in hopes that Henry has totally escaped the yucky fever and cold that Jack has. Thankfully Jack is really not too interested in Henry for the most part and Henry can not crawl around or get into anything that Jack has touched, so that is a huge help!

Today is Henry's 2 week check-up. J is coming home to stay with Jack to prevent him from catching something else and so that I don't have a nervous breakdown trying to chase a toddler and keep a newborn content in the doctor's office full of germs!

Saturday Happenings...

We scheduled newborn pictures today, and Kamin likes to shoot them at your house using your nursery as the background and that was perfect with us!

Well while Jack was at Pop's I had wrapped some of his presents (I don't usually wrap Santa presents) but I found some cute Cars Christmas paper and thought he would enjoy opening them. I had also worked very hard to strategically place them on top of the TV cabinet behind all of the other presents where I could not even see them, thinking a much shorter than me two year old would not either, well guess you spotted the brightly wrapped Cars presents this morning, yep...Jack! So I decided a little bribery might work and if he was good for K I would let him have one present. Well, I should have never underestimated that child because he remembered what I said and even though he did not smile or really look at the camera so much, he did sit where we told him and even held Henry, no hitting, bopping on the head, or dropping!

Needless to say we now have a Harold the Helicopter to play with and hopefully some really cute pictures! HA!

And here is the 4th day of Christmas gift...

On the 4th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

A gift to the Zebra that's spotted

On the 1st Day of Christmas...

Starting on the 14th (12 days before Christmas) J has brought me a gift every night with a card that has a funny or cute saying to the tune of the 12 days of Christmas song! They have been fun little gifts and things that I LOVE and it has been so much fun to have something to look forward to each night. So, I thought I would let you in on the fun too...so here are the last 3 days (again playing catch up) and I will (try) to update you every day! I can not wait to see what the final gift is!!!

On the 1st day of Christmas my true love gave to me...4 Resse's trees

On the 2nd day of Christmas my true love gave to me...my favorite lotion

On the 3rd day of Christmas my true love gave to me...index cards for my OCD listing making habit!

Jack is still with Pop today and coming home this afternoon, so I decided that Henry and I would get out to buy the last gift I needed. He did great for the most part, other than a little crying in Old Navy. I have forgotten what trouble it is to lug that car seat and stroller and diaper bag, and purse every time you go somewhere and with two boys I see lots and lots of online shopping in my future!

I LOVE a baby with a paci, and Jack really did not care about it at all. Henry is still a little unsure, but I keep trying, which is crazy I know, but it is so cute! I also put him in this adorable little smocked outfit that was Jack's, but Jack could not wear it until he was 3 months old! Henry got to wear it at 2 weeks!

Catching Up!

Let me just say that having a baby in December is one good way to make you totally crazy!! Thankfully for the most part I planned ahead and had most everything done! My tree is finally up and decorated (thank you mom!) and all the gifts are bought and will be wrapped today while Jack is with his Pop. (thank you pop!) I also planned to blog everyday this week since we had some fun things going on, and well lack of sleep, a two year old getting adjusted to his big bed,

etc, etc just sort of got in the way, so we will just catch up today.

My mom came up on Sunday night and stayed with me until Tuesday afternoon. I was so glad to have her help and we got lots done. I even managed to not cry when she left this time. (I cried for hours when she left after Jack was born) I guess the 2nd time around you are more at ease. It also helps that Henry is over 2lbs bigger than Jack was and that we escaped a NICU stay.

We (or should I say I) decided that it would be fun to decorate a gingerbread house with Jack! Well, not so much. A trip to Wal-Mart and $9 later we had this...

which ended in this...

that is Gigi trying to fix a very broken gingerbread house and Jack just content to eat all of the candy decorations! So needless to say after icing did not work, hot glue was a disaster, we opted to let Jack eat the candy and the gingerbread house made its way to the garbage can.

We managed to get all of that cleaned up just in time for my sweet friends from my working days to stop by and meet Henry. They got to come to the hospital when Jack was born, but missed Henry's birth due to a family death, so we were glad they got to stop by Tuesday and visit. Jack LOVES Sharon, and was not at all happy about her holding Henry!

Gosh he looks just like Jack in this picture with lots and lots more hair.

Yesterday Aunt Em took off work early so we could finish up some Christmas gifts that she needed me to make and that allowed John and I to run to school for Jack's Christmas party.

I left fed Henry and left him with Em while we partied with 8 two year olds. Of course as soon as Jack saw us he was ready to go and started saying bye Jay, bye Abby, bye Ms. A...so we got all of his goodies, wished his teachers a merry Christmas, grabbed some b-b-que for lunch and headed home!

Jack is with Pop today and it is finally warmer here, but pouring rain. There is some flu going around so Henry and I are hanging out at home! J brought me lunch and I finally got a shower about 1pm, but I would not trade this day for anything!

Weekend List

This weekend we...

  • Enjoyed our last couple of days with daddy at home. 10 days was a long time, but we enjoyed having him here. Its ashame we can not be lottery winners so he can stay home all the time! HA!
  • Got lots of loving from Aunt Em and Uncle Kyle! (don't know what I would have done without Em's help the last couple of weeks)

  • Loved on our new addition and even Jack has started warming up to the idea with kisses and all.
  • Jack tested out all of Henry's new toys and seats for us.

  • And this week for a few days we are going to enjoy some help from Gigi and try to get ready for the days on our own!!

Grandparent Time!

Henry has gotten lots of grandparent love...

But don't worry Jack has NOT been left out at all...
