Welcome to Jack's Room

I decided I would play along with Kelly's blog and show you Jack's room. Of course it is my most favorite room in our house AND it makes me smile every time I walk in there. I am reminded of how blessed we are to have such a healthy and happy baby boy.

This is the view from the hallway. I LOVE the bedding I chose. It is from Serena and Lily and has been very hard to match, but I knew when as soon as I saw it it would be perfect and so different!

This is the dresser that we chose because it also doubles as a changing table for now. I bought the painted initials on eBay and my very crafty friend Jenny made his wipes case. The bucket for diapers was a 1/2 off find at Hobby Lobby and thanks to some added ribbon it now matches perfectly!

This chair was one of my splurges that I picked custom colors for. I love it and think it makes the room. My mom made the table skirt and the lamp was a love at 1st sight item since I have a thing for elephants! We searched for 8 months for a lamp shade and my mom found this in Atlanta on a shopping trip. It matches perfectly.

I had this painting done by a local artist. She did an awesome job on it. I of course love the elephant and John loves the pig!

If you know me at all, you know I love anything monogrammed (just look at my child's clothes.) My mom made the cornice board and had it monogrammed with Jack's initials. My dear friend Matt had his mom do the striped curtains while I was in the hospital having Jack! (He came 3 weeks early and the fabric came in for the curtains the day he was born.) Talk about timing!

Now some of you have seen this and yes it is a little embarrassing, but this is Jack's closet! I know he will never need any clothes again! It doesn't help that I have a sister and mother who love to shop, a friend who always "drags me" to the sales, and I sort of have a love for clothes too. The child has enough clothes for 2 years I think. AND this is not even counting the 2 HUGE boxes I have already packed away.

Thank you for visiting Jack's room. I can not wait to see all the other adorable room's.

Random Hump Day Thoughts

This is the face of one happy baby who is finally returning to normal! I missed that happy little face and hearing that sweet laugh the last few days. We had our 1st ear infection and throwing up all in the same weekend. It was definitely a new experience, to say the least!

Several people have asked me what the birthday bash link is about. Well, Rachel at Golden Shop makes the CUTEST birthday bibs I have ever seen! And I was for sure getting one for Jack's birthday and had been looking at them a lot lately. She is so popular I knew I needed to start thinking about it. Well she did a giveaway on this blog (hints the birthday bash link) and I WON!!! So now that is taken care of I will see what else I can spend that $$ on for Jack's birthday. Oh I know I am going to be in so much trouble with this party, but he only turns 1 once, right?

And finally...What do you think of the new header and background? Not exactly perfect to me, but getting there! I am really trying to avoid paying someone to do a cute header. I just know I can do it!

Plans...Oh how they change!

Well, after much discussion, crying, and a little loudness we decided that we had to miss out on their wedding (Jessica my little(well not any more)cousin)

and keep Jack at home. Ear infection, throwing up, and fever does not make for an exciting weekend trip. I so hated to miss it and to hurt anyone's feelings, but that is life...especially with a little one!

So FINALLY after 3 weeks, we have a weekend at home AND Jack and I get John to ourselves for THREE WHOLE DAYS! (Not that we are complaining about how much he works, well maybe a little)

We have lots planned and things that desperately need to be done around our house, so depending on Jack's mood maybe we will get it all done!

I did mark one major thing off the list yesterday and bought this A HUGE deal and in record time. Now I will be a little more prepared for our trip at the end of June. Now I just need to make 30lbs vanish!

Happy Long Weekend!

At 8 months you are:

-Sitting up very well (in the high chair and shopping cart)
-You can get on your hands and knees and rock and you can even go one scoot
-You weigh 18lbs 14oz
-You have to wear a bib ALL the time because you drool
-You are wearing 6,9 and even some 12 month clothes
-You have become disinterested in your pacifier in the last 2 weeks
-You love to eat anything we give you especially table food
-You have gotten your 1st ear infection
-You still love to stroll and we do it every morning
-You cry every time mommy leaves the room
-Everything goes straight to the mouth
-You object strongly when something is taken away from you
-You are beginning to not like the car seat
-No more swing, we put it up this month
-You constantly move your legs
-You love music and wave your hands around and smile at any song
-You are starting to like Aunt Emmy and she comes to see you every Tuesday
-You are a very happy baby

Love you more than you will ever know.

What are we up to?

Well this week had turned out to be VERY busy and I am not really sure why or how the days got away from us, but I did manage to sneak some pictures. Jack has discovered his tongue and John's. Very amusing.

I am currently working on a new blog header and background, however I did not major in computers and know nothing about html, so it may be awhile before you get to see it! I am also starting to plan Jack's 1st Birthday. I know it is still 4 months away, but he only turns 1 once, so I want it to be special. (Maybe one day soon I will let you see a peek at what I have accomplished so far.) AND we have decided to take a vacation with some friends in late June. That means more walks around the neighborhood and (sigh) a bathing suit, which I will have to buy since last year's was maternity, and thank goodness I can not wear it!

John's working and working, but we are thankful that he is so busy.

And Jack, well he is up to a lot and tomorrow I will let you in on it. It's a special day!

We are gone again this weekend, but at least we have Monday off. I think I hear the voices in John's head saying YEA a day off!

Moving Day

Today has been a sad day for me. My best friend since 3rd grade is moving!

Jack and I went by today to take lunch and everything was all packed up and the movers had started loading the truck. I could not stay long because I did not want to watch them load it all up.

The good news is that her mom and hairdresser live here. And we all know a girl can not live without either one of those! She will also be 5 minutes from the beach, so I predict a beach trip soon!

I have been lucky enough to grow up with her and also to see her 4 year old, Parker Alan grow up.

We have loved and fought like sisters and I will miss all the thing about her that drive me crazy and those things that make me smile!

I will miss stopping at every jewelry counter and store between here and Kalamazoo, talking to every person we see(even if we NEVER met them before), that HUGE ghostly Merle Norman powder, eating 50 pickles at every meal, ordering every extra sauce the restaurant carries, waiting on her to get ready until 3pm, our LOVE for chick-fil-a and Dr. Pepper (especially when pregnant), Parker's ironed oxford and Polo shirts, that stubborn head, big bangs, Rave hairspray, quick Wal-Mart runs that turn into 3 hour shopping extravaganzas, John's constant need to make fun, the fact that everyone thinks we are sisters, that Parker thinks orange and blue is one color, and most of all having someone there to call when you need them!

So thank you for all the memories. Good Luck in Pensacola. I will miss you and can not wait too see what is in store for you in this new adventure.

Love you!

Dancing and more Dancing!

Okay, do not hate me, but I knew that when I mentioned something about the camera in my post Friday that I had just jinxed myself and what would do you know...I forgot the camera!

BUT as it turns out there was NO WAY to capture Jack and his face and dance moves(I think he got his rhythm from John along with everything else!) watching Sydney's dance recital! The child was in awe of it! Sydney was delighted and danced for Jack the entire weekend. Shan and I sat through the recital (which was 3 hours long!) twice and the 2nd time I had some extra commentary from Colby, who had me laughing the entire time! (He reminds me so much of John when it comes to their humor!)

We ate Mexican(twice), went without sleep, and got to see some friends who met Jack for the 1st time! I did manage to get a few pictures with my phone and steal some from Shay too!

Sydney entertaining Jack with her pogo stick!

Jack watching Sydney!

The infamous Turkeys! Em, Syd, and Shay had to pose with them!

Silly Aunt Emmy!

Our friend Shay, who met Jack for the 1st time!

We are catching up on sleep and errands today and taking dinner to a dear friend and his family tonight! (And for those of you who know me well you had better not be laughing at that sentence. YES, I am making my part of the dinner from scratch at home! NO TAKEOUT)

He's Growing

I almost cried yesterday! This is my baby sitting up all alone in the shopping cart at Wal-Mart! WOW how time is passing.

I secretly have to admit that this is much easier when grocery shopping, but part of me wants to hold onto that little 5lb baby that we brought home from the hospital. I had not seen this picture of that little 5lb baby before this week. It brought tears to my eyes.

We are off to Pulaski tomorrow for Sydney's dance recital. John's working so Emily is coming along too!

See you Monday with lots of Pictures, unless I forget again!

Terrific Tuesday except for that cancelled concert!

Yep, they canceled the NKOTB concert that was May 29th! We had 15th row tickets and had dreamed of going to their concert since childhood.(We even tried to find the old Donnie and Joey buttons hiding in Gran's garage) You can read more about it here I guess that girls night out that I was so looking forward to is now a fading fantasy in my mind.

However the day got better. Jack's fever went away and the faucet that is his nose at the moment seems to be getting better too. Between his nose and drooling I think I changed his outfit 3 times today! (Good thing he has lots) And speaking of outfits, my friend who ALWAYS seems to get me in trouble when we go anywhere to buy for the babies called me and she was here. They were having a HUGE sale 1 day only on all summer stuff! I am a sucker for summer stuff and I bought all this!

And...the cute outfit with the big fish, it reverses to this!

And for the BIG NEWS...

Jack did this tonight.

Not quite ready to move, but he is working on it. Boy I am excited and dreading it all at the same time! I am hoping it will make me skinny. (A girl can dream right?)

Happy Belated Mother's Day

SIDE NOTE: The camera did make it on our trip, however lack of sleep prevented me from remembering to take any pictures. I know how dumb, right?

Well as most of you know this was my 1st Mother's Day and it was, well interesting to say the least! I think we all know that you imagine this perfect wonderfully spectacular day and with a baby, that is such a fantasy because nothing EVER turns out as planned!

We headed to LA (lower Alabama) about 8pm Friday night thinking that leaving at this time would be so smart because John could work as late as he needed and we could get Jack ready for bed and he would sleep the whole way! Smart plan that worked well until we got to my Gran's house and baby boy was wide awake, so after much bouncing, rocking, begging, bottles, and paci's the child finally went to sleep at 2AM and was again wide eyed at 4am and 5am and 6am! And that sleeping pattern was repeated again on Saturday night! Despite the tiredness we had a great time.

The guys golfed, girls shopped, we all ate, and had lots of fun watching Jack and his new tricks. (He is trying so hard to crawl)

Mother's Day was spent at church, family lunch, and the car. It was a emotional day for me and reminded me of the great gift I have been given and what I am expected to be for my child. I am so thankful for my life and my family. We are truly blessed in more ways than I could have ever imagined.

I hope you all had the best Mother's Day possible!

Aunt Emmy's Back...She brought presents!!

Emily and Kyle are back from their wonderful trip and she came for a quick dinner and picture show and tell(well until her camera died). She also brought presents for us all! AND of course Baby Boy's(as Emmy calls him)was ADORABLE! And John and I liked ours too! I just don't think we are quite as cute in a picture. A new shirt for Jack, jewelry for me, and spices for John!

Jack and I also had lots to do today. We ate lunch with friends here. , walked around here to enjoy the sunshine (and well, shop a little too!) and delivered adorable clothes to some girls for their cute boys! (If you did not know I sell some smocked and appliqued clothes on ebay and around town too)
It is fun for me since Jack's closet is umm, well we just won't go there (packed to the gills full!) and I love getting great deals and being able to pass them along. Check out ebay for them sometime!

We have a big weekend planned with lots to do. I am so excited for my 1st (well 2nd Mother's Day) Talk soon!

Sewing and Cinco De Mayo

Yesterday was very eventful to say the least. Sara Ann and I attempted to sew for the 1st time EVER! IT took us four hours and this is what we attempted.

Sara Ann needs the giraffe and elephant for a special project and well we figured we could do it. Not so easy. I even took the poor little guy for show and tell to dinner last night, where it was the big laugh! I will post a picture, but I think it is still in John's car and never actually made it back to the house.

The funniest thing was Jack laughed so hard when we held up the finished product. Needless to say I don't either one of us will be taking up a sewing job anytime soon! Thank goodness for Jenny and Etsy! I think I will just stick to shopping there.

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo with our friends and had a great time. Jack sat in the high chair for the 1st time and tried Cheese Quesadilla (which he did not like at all!)

Lots of fun, but I am tired. This teething business is not much fun nor are the 4:30a wake-up calls. It is wonderful that John is so helpful!

Weekend Mishaps or Adventures (if you want to call them that!)

We had great big plans this weekend to visit The Down's in Pulaski, until Shan and I decided that it was probably best if we did not come since we were not really sure about this swine flu thing! (you probably think that is so funny! I know I sound like a crazy lady, but NO 7 month old needs the flu of any kind! Especially one that comes from pigs that they no nothing about.) So John kept his plans to meet his dad for golf and Jack and I stayed home.

Since we had no agenda, I had plans of us getting out strolling the outdoor mall, having lunch, and enjoying the sunshine, well it turns out that Jack refused to take a nap of any kind ALL DAY LONG from 5:30a to 7pm the child was up. Every attempt failed. (As you can see below)

and I finally got to take a shower at 4:30pm! Needless to say we spent a lovely day at home. (And I don't want to mention that we had also been invited to the beach)

By the time John got home at 8p I was worn out and grumpy. I had even practiced my speech about how I was spending the whole next day ALONE, getting a pedicure, shopping, and eating chocolate chip cookies(my favorite thing in life, that you must avoid when desperately trying to rid of unwanted baby weight) AND guess what I didn't have to say anything. John walked right in with Cookies, a magazine, and $$$ for a pedi. (No he is not for sale!)

So determined for a day alone off I went! This is what I left! Of course sleeping away. (Yes that is a tag from the pillow over is face. They are his obsession!)

I was shopping my little heart out and excitedly smiling half naked in the dressing room at the size I had just put on and buttoned when over the loud speaker this announcement: THERE IS A TORNADO IN THE AREA, PLEASE MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE SALON FOR COVER!

WHAT?? Oh yes I spent my oh-so-fun-day-alone in the salon at the dept store wondering if I was going to die with all these strangers! Needless to say when the warning lifted I ran back to that dressing room and got my oh-so-cute clothes and went home!

Funny how things turn out! I actually enjoyed my lazy afternoon with my two favorite boys! Much better than shopping alone!
