Holiday Happenings

We had a great Thanksgiving!!

(other than the little ear infection that Jack woke up with on Thursday morning and that we were out of town and had to go to FOUR different doc-in-the box/pediatrics place to find someone to see him!) He is such a pleasant baby, that the only signs he doesn't feel well are a fever and rosy cheeks!

  • We ate lots and lots of yummy food!
  • My Aunt Beth had a basket full of toys for Jack to play with. That made it much easier to entertain him, however I think her piano did a pretty good job of it too!
  • Thanksgiving night we all go to the movies. It is a fun tradition we have Jack and I only made it about 20 minutes, which was fine since Em and I were getting up at 2:30 AM to shop!
  • Em and I shopped just about all day (and our day started at 3:30AM) We go some great deals and had lots of fun. Thank goodness John had gone the day before to get the TV we wanted for our upstairs den, so we did not have to fight for one on Black Friday.
  • John watched the Iron Bowl at Em's in-laws house. Mom, Jack, and I ate cookies and shopped some more.
  • We went to one of our favorite out of the way places for a yummy dinner. Jack was the star of the restaurant that night and loved he loved the fried pickles.
  • Jack got his 1st Christmas present, from the Unger's and he loved it. So much that I have already scoped out Chuck's (its a dump truck) brothers at Wal-Mart. I think Santa might have to bring them!
Hope your Thanksgiving was as fun as ours. We had lots of fun with our family. I think they mostly had fun with Jack!! (He is not rotten at all!)
Now we are trying to get into Christmas mode!
We better hurry, so that Jack can wear all of his Christmas outfits before it is over!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

We are starting our Thanksgiving celebrating a day early!

Jack and I are headed to Pop's today then out of town tomorrow morning to visit my mom's family. Our families live in two different directions so we do an every other year thing. This year is Thanksgiving with my family and Christmas with J's, then we will swap next year!

I love Thanksgiving and the crazy madness and shopping on Friday, but most of all I think Thanksgiving is often times over looked for the Christmas hype. And we have so much to be thankful for. And this year I am thankful for so many things!

I am thankful for a wonderful husband who is a great father and provider so that I can stay home and enjoy each day with Jack. I am thankful for a beautiful, healthy, and happy baby boy who is loved so much by his Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles (he has lots!) and sweet friends. I am thankful that we have a nice home to live in, plenty of food to eat, and we are healthy. That is something so many of us take for granted each day. I am thankful that having a baby has made me realize the importance of so much more and for those who want to experience the joys of a child and can not or have lost a child.

I am even thankful for the silly things like this year, my embroidery machine and a new little business venture. It has allowed me to make money and still do what is the most important to me, and that is be home with Jack.

We hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
(Oh I can not forget a big WAR EAGLE!!! It is iron bowl weekend too!)

Let's Go Outside

Jack LOVES to be outside! I don't mind strolling him all day long, but to just go and play outside I am not a fan!
I don't like the sweaty smell of outside when you come in, I get really bored, and it is just not a very girly activity, but I am quickly learning to like (love is a little too strong) being outside, and with a boy I don't think I have much choice!
Yesterday we spent some time outside and other than having to keep Jack from trying to eat all the leaves and bark we had fun!

Lots and Lots

This weekend we...

  • Got to see Gigi and Gran. They came to town for a wedding i.e. good excuse to see Jack! We put Gigi to work while they were here and now Jack has more than enough clothes for this Winter! I have not gotten the hemming thing down yet, and baby boy is a little on the small side! Gran got to see Jack walking (running) and of course we managed to squeeze in a little shopping time.
  • We played with our toys
  • And in the bath tub
  • And made Aunt Em and outfit! We saw these at the big Christmas thing in our town and they were over $60! We made a picture and copied it for a whole lot less. Now if I can find the time to make me one!

What's A Tootlebug

This is our Tootlebug and how the name for my monogramming business came about.

And the new button to the right of our blog page is my Tootlebugs monogramming business price list, appliques, and fonts. Thanks to Leslie who got it up for me very quickly when I really needed it. Christmas orders are filling up quickly and in an effort to make some things for Jack (HA!) I am only taking orders through December 10Th. I am really excited about all the orders, but can not stay up until 2am every night.

Here is what I have been working on for Christmas...

For the new babies...

And the football fan...(Don't judge for the yucky bama stuff! HA!)

Don't you need something for your Tootlebug??

Weekend, Zoo, and Grandparents

  • The Rutlands took Tropical Storm Ida as an excuse to come visit since school was cancelled. We took advantage of the beautiful weather Thursday and took the boys to the zoo! Parker was the funniest thing. He wanted you to read every sign and tell about every animal. Not knowing was simply NOT acceptable! We rode the train, ate yummy frozen yogurt, and walked alot!

  • Friday afternoon we got a surprise visit from Jack's Grandaddy (John's dad) who was passing through town. Jack was asleep and missed seeing him, but he came back by today and brought Jack a Little People barnyard with mooing doors and all the animals from John's Aunt Melissa and Uncle David. Which he LOVED and I was so glad we got it just in time because it was on the list for Jack's Pop to get for Christmas!!
  • I did a Holiday Open House with Tootlebugs on Saturday which went very well and should keep me busy in the sweat shop until late in the night! Then Pop was sweet enough come babysit while we went to an Autism benefit with lots of yummy food from local restaurants. I don't think Jack cared at all that we were gone. As soon as he realized Pop was here he did not care about anyone else! (Could it be all that sweet tea and Chick-fil-a fries he gave him??)
  • Today we played outside and took a walk, but most importantly I took a long nap. The 1st one in over a year. It was heavenly!!

The Joys of a Toddler!

I hesitated to put this on the blog, but after John and Mrs. Ellen, both said it was too funny not to share I decided to go for it. After all Jack will need something on this blog to laugh about one day!

Oh, sorry for the poor picture quality. My phone was all I could get to at that moment!

Happy Laughs!!

And even did a little stroller-free shopping with Aunt Em at the big Christmas show. We stopped by Knick Nat's to get some cute earrings and Mrs. Jan ALWAYS has her camera! (Check Natalie's earrings out here! (you will be glad you did!)

Hope your weekend was as exciting as our weekend. I think today we will stay in, snuggle, and watch it rain!
